Downtown Manistique businesses to host ‘Sip, Shop & Stroll’ event Oct. 11

    October 10, 2024

MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WZMQ) – This Friday and Saturday, Manistique businesses are teaming up to launch a new seasonal shopping event.

The inaugural Sip, Shop & Stroll will take place within the city’s Social District. Shoppers can enjoy drinks from participating bars as they explore stores throughout the downtown.

“Sip, Shop & Stroll was really the brainchild of a couple of merchants,” said Paige Pugh, owners of Camp & Coastal Design Co. “We just wanted to give everybody a chance to come in, see what products we have, taste products, sample products. Most of the businesses on Cedar Street are a part of it, and each merchant’s going to do their own thing.”

Pugh hopes Sip, Shop & Stroll will remind locals that they can get much of what they need without traveling to shop at larger retailers. She says business owners also want to boost traffic as the tourism season comes to an end.

“We have a really good little shopping district here in Manistique,” Pugh said. “We don’t live in a location where it’s very easy to get things, so I think anytime that we can get people to shop local, shop small, it’s just great for our community. Also, honestly, we miss our local people. We haven’t seen them since it got so crazy over the summer, so it’ll just be a great time to kind of reconnect with everybody.”

Sip, Shop & Stroll runs Friday, October 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, October 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, click here.
