    October 11, 2024

Counseling Connections for Change, Inc. is hosting its annual Drive-Thru BBQ on Oct. 20 to raise awareness and funds for mental health services, according to a news release from the organization.

    What you need to know

Counseling Connections, which is a nonprofit organization that offers a variety of counseling and therapy services, is hosting the event in partnership with several other businesses and organizations, according to the release.

Proceeds from the event will go to the HOPE Fund, which provides free and reduced counseling services to those who are uninsured or at-need, according to the organization’s website.

“Mental health continues to be the basis of every human problem we are facing today whether it is homelessness, violence, crime, abuse, food insufficiency, etc.,” Counseling Connections CEO Dawn Lawless said in the release. “Suicide rates are at record highs.”

Tickets are $15 and include chicken, sausage, the latter of which is provided by Kiolbassa, and sides, which are provided by Central Texas Bar-B-Q, according to the release. The barbecue offered comes from Houston-based Bottomless Pit.

In the past 11 years, Counseling Connections has provided more than $2.1 million in free and reduced services through the HOPE Fund, according to the release.
