Manchester United have different all-important methods to replenish their club war chest after the triple signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko this summer.
That is according to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell and David Ornstein, who revealed the approach that the Red Devils can adopt after spending over £200m this summer.
Manchester United splashed out big transfer fees to land Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo for the Red Devils’ squad rebuild under Ruben Amorim.
Cunha was a key United target in the summer window and the Red Devils triggered the £62.5m release clause in the Brazil international’s Wolves contract in June.
Mbeumo was at the centre of United’s transfer saga with Brentford this summer and the Red Devils finally landed the former Bees ace for an initial fee of around £65m.

Laurie Whitwell and David Ornstein spotlight options for Man Utd to build up their funds after their three major summer signings
Manchester United landed Benjamin Sesko ahead of Newcastle last week and the Red Devils agreed to an initial transfer payment of £66.3m with RB Leipzig.
Laurie Whitwell and David Ornstein both explained in The Athletic’s ‘Transfer DealSheet’ that United must now ‘balance the books’ after their summer spending.
The Athletic’s reporters added that one such method to raise ‘significant funds’ would be through player sales, with several options available to United.
Rasmus Hojlund is on the chopping block at Old Trafford and has been linked with Serie A side AC Milan after United’s acquisition of former Newcastle target Sesko.
Alejandro Garnacho has been linked with Chelsea after falling out with Ruben Amorim, while United winger Antony is on Real Betis’ transfer radar again.
According to Whitwell and Ornstein, United have also received other means of building up their funds without needing to offload players through sales.

Whitwell and Ornstein said that United have benefited through sell-on clauses after Anthony Elanga’s move to Newcastle and Real Madrid signing Alvaro Fernandez.
United’s wages for first-team players have also been alleviated for the short term after Marcus Rashford signed for Barcelona on a season-long loan deal this summer.
The Red Devils also included a hefty clause in their £26.7m deal involving Mason Greenwood’s transfer to Marseille, with United including a 50 per cent sell-on fee.
Mason Greenwood has been able to revive his career at Ligue 1 side Marseille and the former United player has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia this summer.
Whitwell and Ornstein report that United also have the option to make more sales in January and could offload further talent up to 30th June in 2026 if needed.
