Scotia Investments says it leads Jamaica’s collective investment schemes market

Marie Lyn James, Head of Investment Management, Caribbean and Central America

    March 11, 2026

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Scotia Jamaica Investments Limited (SIJL) said it has taken the leading market share position among service providers in Jamaica’s collective investment schemes (CIS) industry after several years of growth in assets under management.

The investment firm said its share of the CIS market rose to about 32.8 per cent at the end of December 2025, up from roughly 24.6 per cent in 2020, reflecting an increase of about six percentage points over the five-year period.

Marie Lyn James, head of investment management for the Caribbean and Central America, said the growth reflects continued investor confidence in the firm’s portfolio offerings.

“We are very excited about being the largest collective investment schemes provider,” James said. “It is a testament to our dedication in curating and providing appropriate investment solutions for our clients to help them grow their investment portfolio in a sustained way despite varying market cycles.”

She added that investor participation in the firm’s products signals that clients increasingly view SIJL as a long-term financial partner.

A subsidiary of Scotia Group Jamaica, SIJL provides investment advisory and wealth management services to individual and corporate clients. The company said its portfolio management and client advisory services have supported its growth in the CIS segment.

In 2025, the firm also received the Best Pension Fund Manager in Jamaica and the Caribbean award from World Finance, recognising its performance in managing retirement assets across the region.

Chief executive officer Sabrina Cooper said the company has also introduced a “Total Wealth Approach,” a global wealth management framework designed to give clients a broader view of their financial position.

“This approach allows our wealth advisers to look beyond traditional investment options and consider the full outlook of a client’s financial goals, including retirement planning, estate considerations, liquidity needs and generational wealth,” Cooper said.

Collective investment schemes pool funds from multiple investors and invest them across diversified portfolios of assets such as equities, bonds and other securities.
