Bitcoin (BTC) ETFs Record Strongest Three-Week Stretch of 2026 as Golden Cross Looms

    September 6, 2026

    Key Highlights

    • Spot Bitcoin ETFs in the United States accumulated $3.8 billion across a three-week period, with $986.9 million arriving last week
    • IBIT from BlackRock captured $117.4 million on Friday, representing approximately 67% of daily inflows
    • BTC was trading at $79,716 during reporting hours, marking a roughly 2.6% increase across the previous week
    • A golden cross formation is anticipated around September 11 as Bitcoin’s 50-day EMA approaches its 200-day EMA
    • A Coin Bureau analyst identified the approaching golden cross as historically positive, while cautioning it functions as a delayed indicator

The United States spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds have recorded their most impressive three-week performance period of 2026, accumulating a combined $3.8 billion in net capital inflows. The final week of this surge, concluding Friday, September 5, contributed $986.9 million to the total.

Combined net holdings across all United States spot Bitcoin ETF products reached $101.3 billion by Friday’s close, following a brief peak at $103.3 billion registered one day earlier. Aggregate net capital flows since inception now total $55.6 billion.

The iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) from BlackRock dominated Friday’s activity, securing $117.4 million in fresh capital. Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) was the sole additional product recording positive flows, capturing $57.2 million.

Total Friday contributions across all products reached $174.6 million, representing a significant decline from Thursday’s impressive $731 million haul.

Bitcoin experienced a momentary slide beneath $79,000 on Friday before rebounding to $79,716 by publication time. The cryptocurrency has still advanced approximately 2.6% throughout the preceding seven-day period.

Comparative ETF Performance: Bitcoin, Ether, and XRP

Capital inflows to Bitcoin ETF products increased approximately 7% on a week-over-week basis. Meanwhile, United States spot Ether ETF inflows experienced a sharp 74% contraction to $218.4 million, and XRP ETF products witnessed an 83% reduction to $19 million.

Despite recent volatility, both Ether and XRP exchange-traded products maintain positive annual performance. Ether ETFs have accumulated approximately $863 million in year-to-date net contributions, while XRP ETF products have secured around $515 million.

Bitcoin ETF products continue to show roughly $1 billion in negative net flows for the calendar year, notwithstanding the recent positive momentum shift.

    Technical Analysis: Golden Cross Formation

Simultaneously, an important technical pattern is developing within Bitcoin’s price structure.

Data from September 1 shows Bitcoin’s 50-day exponential moving average positioned at $70,030, while the 200-day equivalent registered $72,323. The separation between these indicators stands at approximately 3.2%.

Technical analysts project a convergence event — termed a golden cross — could materialize around September 11, assuming price levels remain stable near current valuations.

The Coin Bureau crypto analysis account shared on X that Bitcoin is “about to flash a golden cross for the first time since November 2025.” The analysis emphasized that the previous three completed golden cross formations preceded Bitcoin rallies of 50%, 45%, and 60% respectively. Nevertheless, the analyst cautioned this remains a delayed signal that has “sometimes reversed within weeks.”

🚨BULLISH: Bitcoin is about to flash a golden cross for the first time since November 2025.

Its 50-day average is crossing back above the 200-day, one of the oldest bullish signals in markets.

Historical analysis spanning 12 golden cross occurrences since 2012 reveals Bitcoin posted an average 24.9% gain over three-month periods following each signal, though individual outcomes demonstrated considerable variation.

Analytics from CryptoQuant indicate the late-August price surge originated primarily from short position liquidations in derivatives markets rather than genuine spot market accumulation.

On September 3, Bitcoin was exchanging hands near $77,000, already positioned above both key moving average levels.
