El Paso County Commissioners vote to put UMC, capital improvement bonds on the November ballot

    August 12, 2024

Update: County Commissioners also voted to put the El Paso County Capital Improvement Program Project on the November ballot.

“In September, a series of informational meetings will take place throughout the County outlining each proposition and related projects,” a county spokesperson explained after the vote.

The bond costs $323.8 million, according to the county. That money will go towards the following departments: Parks & Recreation, New Office of Medical Examiner, County Subcourthouses (Annexes), County Coliseum Renovation & Modernization, and a New Animal Welfare Shelter.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — El Paso County Commissioners voted unanimously to pass a measure adding a multimillion dollar bond benefiting University Medical Center to November’s ballot.

The UMC bond is projected to cost $396.6 million. The bond would improve bed capacity at the hospital, build senior focused clinics, and develop in-town cancer care. The bond would also improve imaging technology, laboratory services, and operating rooms.

The UMC bond would cost taxpayers an extra $5.79 a month on average, according to county officials.
