Silver prices declining: After a huge rise in silver prices some weeks ago, things have now started to go downhill. Silver prices are falling again and with that the shine of silver ETFs is also fading away. Just a short time ago thesilver was racing to new highs, but now it is falling sharply.
Since October 15, silver ETFs have dropped almost 19%. In the world market too, silver has gone down by around 7.1% because the US dollar got stronger and traders became more careful in the commodity market. On October 20, silver exchange-traded funds saw a big fall of nearly 7%. Now that the Diwali holidays are over, experts think prices could slip more when the markets open again.

Why Silver is Falling now?
Many reasons are behind this sudden fall. A strong US dollar is the main one, because when the dollar goes up, metals like gold and silver become expensive in other countries, so demand falls. Also, people in the global market are being extra alert right now, so fewer investors are buying.
Before this the silver prices had jumped a lot because there was strong demand and some supply problems. Reports said many jewellers in India were even finding it hard to get silver bars and coins. That shortage helped prices rise fast, but now that things are settling down, prices are correcting.
According to a report from a brokerage firm, silver went from $35 per ounce at the start of the year to $44.11 in September and even hit a record of $51.30 per ounce in October. It also said silver rose 1.7 times faster than gold this year, which made it one of the top-performing metals before this drop.

What Silver Investors can do?
If you already have silver ETFs, don’t panic. Experts say this drop may just be a short-term correction. The report said “If you are investing in silver ETFs, it is important to understand that the current decline may be a correction. If you want to invest for a long time, then this fall can be a good opportunity to buy…” But if you had bought silver when prices were at their highest, and now want to make some profits, it might be smart to sell a small part of your investment.
