OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) — On Friday, it was time for the yearly tradition at one Overland Park family’s home: The Baldwin Family Annual Charity Lemonade Stand and Cookie Giveaway.
Ed Baldwin, his wife, and six kids have set up the stand, mixed up the lemonade, and whipped up some cookies for six years.
The 50-cent lemonade sales benefit Supporting Kids Foundation and you can enjoy a free chocolate chip cookie.
Ed said over the years they always donated to Supporting Kids Foundation to help families impacted by pediatric cancer.
“That just pulls on our heartstrings and it’s something that we’ve always donated to before this, so it was an easy choice for the charity when we decided to make it big,” Ed Baldwin said.
His daughter Cece agreed.
“I really enjoy it because we want them to have a life—like, me and my family, me and my friends, we get to live this great life, we don’t have to deal with that, so it’s just nice to be able to support those kids,” Cece Baldwin said.
As of 12:30 p.m. Friday, they had already raised over $1,400 with the stand and donations online.
The first year they raised around $300 and last year they donated over $2,300.
They hope to match or beat last year’s amount.
