LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Las Vegas youth enjoyed a series of street hockey clinics on Saturday at Lorenzi Park.
They were able to participate due to a $15,000 donation from the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation to the Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE.
There were dozens of kids in grades K-5, including girls from the Girls Scouts of Southern Nevada who had the opportunity to play a part in street hockey activities.
This was also a celebration of the opening of the Lorenzi Park street hockey rink that opened last year.
The rink was funded by donations from the VGK Foundation and NHL to the Mayor’s Fund.
The hockey event was also used to recruit more girls to engage in the sport.
Starting in November, The City of Las Vegas is planning to put in place a girl’s street hockey league.
The new league will also be funded by the VGK Foundation.
