The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors have approved investments of over $28-million towards efficiency efforts. The Board made the move on Tuesday, to reduce energy and water use at County government buildings, as well as a broader plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions. The plans include construction of a 1.8 megawatt solar energy system at the County Admin Center campus. Investments will also be made in energy efficient LED lighting, water saving toilets, and battery storage systems. The upgrades will be made over the next two years, and the cost will be offset by savings on electricity, water and gas over the lifetime of the improvements. This all coincides with a plan to make the County Government operations carbon-neutral by 2030.
