Massoud Yeganegy, who studied construction engineering after moving to England in the 1970s, began his career with Norwest Holst, gaining valuable experience as a site and project engineer.
In 1984 he launched Fixly Construction, which was rebranded as Roxan Construction two years later.
Despite the economic recession of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Mr. Yeganegy successfully navigated the downturn by negotiating interest-only loan terms with his bankers.
The move allowed him to part-exchange unsold flats for family homes, which were then let out to generate income, service debts, and reinvest in further property acquisitions.
This marked the beginning of a new chapter as Roxan evolved into a property investment and development company.
In 2006 Mr. Yeganegy established MYA Property, which has grown into Southampton’s biggest private residential landlords, managing more than 880 homes with a dedicated in-house property management team.
Operating from Roxan Business Centre in Lodge Road, the company oversees extensive letting and maintenance operations.
Under Mr. Yeganegy’s leadership, Roxan Construction has developed more than 2,000 homes as well as receiving a clutch of ten national property awards an an international accolade in the USA in 2008.
His eldest daughter Laleh joined Roxan in 1999 and is now co-director.
Her first major contribution was the design of a sailing boat sculpture installed at the entrance of Quay 2000 – a 50-apartment riverside project in Southampton.
Mr. Yeganegy’s son Babak a chartered engineer and co-director, has also played a key role in the continued growth of the family’s companies. His youngest daughter, Roxan Robinson, is a company director.
He said: “I am incredibly proud of our MYA Property Management Team.
“Our success is the result of excellent teamwork and the dedication of our loyal staff. I could not have achieved any of this without them.
“I must also thank my dear wife, Deborah, for her unwavering support and encouragement throughout this journey.”
Roxan Construction recently completed a mixed-use development on Above Bar Street, comprising residential apartments and ground floor/basement commercial units. All the homes were sold to Southampton City Council.
One of the shop units has been let by Savills and another unit is currently available for lease through the same estate agents.
