Cristiano Ronaldo goes viral after a Red Bull sip reignites memories of his famous Coca-Cola snub

    November 16, 2025

A video of Cristiano Ronaldo taking a sip of Red Bull before a match with Portugal has gone viral, sparking renewed debate online.

The clip has resurfaced in stark contrast to a moment from years ago. During a Euro 2021 press conference ahead of the Hungary vs. Portugal match, Ronaldo visibly pushed aside two Coca-Cola bottles placed on the table and replaced them with a bottle of water.

“Water. Coca-Cola…” he said as soon as he sat down, making his preferences crystal clear.

What should have been a harmless scene quickly turned into a corporate nightmare. Coca-Cola watched its market value tumble — suddenly and, many argued, unfairly.

In just a few minutes, the company’s stock fell from $56.10 to $55.22 per share, a 1.6% drop that erased approximately $4 billion in market value.

At the time, the gesture itself became a viral moment and a major talking point.

But today, the new video of Ronaldo drinking Red Bull is being used to paint him in a contradictory — and less flattering — light.
