    CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio — The Bainbridge Civic Club is holding its annual Taste of Bainbridge fundraiser 5:30-11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at The Tanglewood Club located at 8745 Tanglewood Trail in Bainbridge Township. Doors open at 5 p.m. for check-in. The event lets you taste the culinary creations from many local chefs at notable east-side eateries. It begins with a social hour that includes appetizers followed by dinner and dessert 6:30-8 p.m. with a raffle and gift auction items donated by 50 local businesses. A full-service cash bar is open during the evening. Your ticket enters you into a drawing to win $1,000. You can visit each restaurant table of your choosing separately. From 8:30-11 p.m. professional casino tables and slot machines, along with socializing will take center stage. The cost to attend is $65. This year there is a special VIP pre-party 4:30 – 6:00 with appetizers from Hungry Bee and cocktails from Melrose Mixers. The cost to attend the VIP pre-party is $40.

    The event raises needed funds to support the Bainbridge Area Food For Friends food pantry, student scholarships and fund the club’s local community projects. It depends on the generous support and donations from local restaurants, businesses and sponsors. Established in 1941, the all-volunteer club is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charitable organization. The club will also hold a holiday lighting ceremony Saturday, Nov. 30 at Heritage Park. For information and tickets to the fundraiser contact thecivicclub.com.

    Veterans Day concert: The Snowbelt Symphony Orchestra opens it new season 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 with a free Veterans Day concert featuring patriotic songs such as “Stars and Stripes Forever” and “God Bless America,” along with Broadway favorites, music by George Gershwin and other quintessentially American tunes. A highlight of the concert will be the anthems of the branches of the US armed forces played to honor veterans. Greg Hillis conducts the program with Lindsey Leonard as vocalist. The concert will be held at New Promise Church, 8671 Euclid Chardon Rd. in Kirtland. Admission is free but tickets are required. Donations are appreciated to the not-for-profit Snowbelt Musical Arts Association. Contact snowbeltmusical.org. The symphony is a professional orchestra featuring classically trained musicians. It was founded in 2022 to bring high quality live classical music performances to Lake and Geauga counties. The orchestra will next perform 7 p.m. Dec. 12 with a concert of holiday favorites at Lake Catholic High School in Mentor. Admission to the Christmas concert is $25.

    Celebrating 60 years of Jewish news: The Cleveland Jewish News Foundation will celebrate the 60th anniversary of publishing the Cleveland Jewish News with a dinner and music entertainment 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Landerhaven, 6111 Landerbrook Dr. in Mayfield Heights. Included is a cocktail reception, sit-down dinner, silent auction, music by Bluewater Kings Band and a guest performance by Yaron Kohlberg, president of Piano Cleveland. The gala fundraiser will benefit the Samuel H. Miller Keeping Our Words Alive Digital Archive of the newspaper along with predecessor newspapers that date back more than a century. The publisher offers newspapers for readers in Cleveland, Columbus and Akron and provides consulting expertise to Jewish newspapers around the country. It also publishes books and city magazines for Lyndhurst, Stow-Munroe Falls, South Euclid, University Heights and through a partnership with Beachwood Buzz. The newspaper is one of the oldest community-based Jewish newspapers in the country, according to Paul Singerman, board chair of the foundation. The cost to attend is $180.     Zip through 20 years and 25 acres: Through Sunday, Oct. 27 you can take a zip line tour of Geneva-on-the-Lake park. Several zipline tours are available for adults and children beginning 10 a.m. Thursday through Monday with a special dusk and nighttime tour on Oct. 26. This year marks the 20th year for the Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake. You can enjoy the new fall menu at the restaurant with a panoramic view of Lake Erie. The lodge also offers four-hour shuttle tours of Ashtabula County’s covered bridges through Nov. 27. The cost of the tour is $50. Advance reservations are required.     Sip & Shop: You may want to start your holiday shopping. The Chagrin Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Sip & Shop 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 in downtown Chagrin Falls. The cost is $25 per shopper for an afternoon of special offers and discounts, contests and prize giveaways at participating stores and restaurants. Participants will receive a tasting cup on a lanyard for sipping beer, wine or festive mocktails provided by merchants as you shop, a swag bag filled with goodies and special coupons. Get your passport stamped at each location and enter for a grand prize gift card package to make a dent on your shopping list. Registration is required at cvcc.org. Don’t delay, the cost increases to $35 after Monday, Oct. 28.
