Mark your calendars for a special celebration on September 14th as 109 Cheese and Wine turns 15! This milestone anniversary coincides with their popular monthly event, “Sips & Samples,” a delightful collaboration with neighboring gourmet shop À Table.
Since opening in 2009, 109 Cheese and Wine has become a beloved fixture in Ridgefield’s Marketplace at Copps Hill. Todd and Monica Brown, the passionate duo behind the store, initially launched 109 Cheese, which quickly gained popularity and a loyal customer base. In 2017, the shop expanded, taking over the space that formerly housed Ink Fine Stationers, to include a boutique wine store specializing in small production, food-friendly wines. This expansion allowed the shop to broaden its offerings while maintaining the high standards that have made it a local favorite. The renovations were environmentally sound, utilizing repurposed and recycled materials, reflecting 109 Cheese and Wine’s commitment to locally-sourced, wholesome products.
The success of the Ridgefield store inspired the Browns to open a second location in Kent, Connecticut. Through it all, they’ve maintained their commitment to quality and community, living their lives with their rescue puppy, Otis. As Todd puts it, “Quality of life and spending it with the ones you love is more important than anything else. Life is short, eat real food, drink great wine, and enjoy your friends and family.”
