We cannot let this week pass without mentioning that Negroni Week is still underway until Sept. 28. Nine of the city’s finer watering holes have special drink menus featuring the bitter and sweet cocktail, crafted in Italy around 1919. When you sip and savor, know that you are also supporting the global Slow Food movement.

Update on Olympia Café lease
According to Joshua Peacock, press secretary for the City of Savannah, the selection committee is being assembled to review six proposals for the ground floor of the Thomas Gamble Building. Six businesses submitted responses to the sealed bid proposal process, per Georgia Code OCGA 36-37-6.
Those businesses include:
-
Galaxy Café (the Olympia Café), the current occupant and lease-holder
-
Parker Scott Properties, Inc.
Peacock confirmed that the evaluation committee will likely make a recommendation in early November to Savannah City Council before the current lease expires Dec. 31 this year.
