    Enfield Man With 7 Outstanding Warrants Held On $1.35 Million In Bonds

    ENFIELD, CT — A local resident with seven active warrants, some dating back as long as four years, was apprehended Monday afternoon following pursuit by police, first in a vehicle and then on foot, before being taken into custody with assistance from a police canine team.

    David Lee, 49, faces a litany of charges pertaining to Monday’s incident, which began as a traffic stop. After police pulled over his Lexus, a passenger in his vehicle, later identified as Melanie LaFountain, got out of the vehicle, permitting Lee to flee the scene, Chief Alaric Fox said.

    The Lexus was spotted again moments later on Douglas Road near Putnam Lane in the Green Manorville section of town. This time, Lee fled on foot, jumping a pair of fences while several Enfield officers, including canine Dunkin, kept up the ground pursuit, Fox said.

    Lee eventually gave himself up, and police searched the Lexus, where they found nearly 35 grams of crack cocaine, nearly 14 grams of fentanyl and $5,028 in cash, Fox said.

    Lee was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, interfering with an officer, engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving and failure to reinstate license within 60 days. Police also had seven PRAWN warrants for his arrest, including five for first-degree failure to appear and a pair for second-degree failure to appear. He was held on bonds totaling $1.35 million.

    LaFountain was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance and interfering with an officer. Her bond was set at $30,000.
