    Sips & Tips: Recently reviewed wines

    Recently reviewed wines, roughly in order of preference:

    –Bouchaine 2021 Pommard Clone Pinot Noir, Carneros, Napa Valley, Ca., $65. Cherry, pencil, herbs and spice. Well-structured with integrated tannins through a persistent finish. Very good.

    –Abbazia di Novacella 2023 Sylvaner, Alto Adige, Italy, $22. Citrus and herbs on the nose. Apple, pear and citrus on the well-balanced, elegant palate, a bit earthy and mineral, with a lingering finish. Very good.

    — Compris Vineyard 2021 Wavelength Chardonnay, Oregon, $45. Baked apple, citrus and oak spice aromas. More apple, citrus and restrained oak spice, with a bit of buttered toast and minerals, on the seamless, rich palate, with a long finish. Very good.

    –Moser 2015 Brut Nature, Trentodoc, Italy, $31. Yeasty and floral aromas. Integrated yeasty bread and citrus on the lively yet balanced palate, with a lingering finish. Very good.

    –Marcelo Pelleriti 2016 Blend of Terroir, Valle de Uco, Mendoza, Arg., $40. A blend of 54% malbec, 26% syrah and 20% cabernet franc. Dark plummy fruit, licorice, tobacco and pepper, with a hefty dose of vanilla. Savory, minerally, with a lingering fish. Very good.

    –Dr. Konstantin Frank 2023 Dry Rose, Finger Lakes, N.Y., $19. Ripe strawberry aromas. Strawberry, cherry and a touch of grapefruit on the balanced palate. Very good.

    –Etude 2022 Pinot Gris, Carneros, Napa, Ca., $32. Floral aromas. Lime, fig and a touch of peach on the palate. A little bit creamy with a salty minerality on the finish. Good plus.

    –Argento 2021 Finca Agrelo Single Vineyard Malbec, Mendoza, Arg., $22. Violet, red fruit aromas. Plum, pepper, herbs and leather on the juicy palate, with a lingering finish. Made with organic grapes. Good plus.

    –Ettore 2019 Signature Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendocino, Ca., $52. Made with organic grapes, this is earthy on the nose, with herbs and dark fruit. More earth, herbs and black fruit along with a touch of licorice on the smooth palate, with a lingering finish. Good plus.

    –Subterra 2022 Los Olivos District Pinot Noir, Napa Valley, Ca., $23. Cherry, herbal and spice aromas. More cherry and spice with a bit of cranberry on the supple, savory palate, with a tart tannic finish. Good plus.

    –Campo Alla Sughera 2020 Toscana, Italy, $25. Blackberry, raspberry, cigar and pepper, along with savory, balsamic notes. Fresh and lively. Good plus.

    –Balletto 2021 Russian River Valley Chardonnay, Sonoma County, Ca., $32. Baked apple, lemon and vanilla on the nose. More of the same on the slightly creamy palate plus some oak toast and spice, with good acidity and a lingering finish. Good plus.

    –Stoller 2023 Chardonnay, Willamette Valley, Ore., $25. Apple and lemon, a bit of peach, and a light saltiness. Good balance. Good plus overall.

    –Valle do Bomfim 2022 White, Douro DOC, Portugal, $15. Tropical, peach aromas. Lime on the palate with a crisp, mineral finish. Good.

    –Riva de La Rosa 2023 Sauvignon Blanc, Fruili, Italy, $19. Tropical, herbal aromas; orange, lemon, melon and herbs on the crisp palate. Good.

    –Masciarelli Villa Gemma 2018 Reserva Montepulciano D’Abruzzo, Italy, $98. Dark cherry and dried herbs on the nose. Cherry, tobacco, herbs, mocha and vanilla on the palate. Very good.

    –Hoopes 2022 Rose, Napa Valley, Ca., $38. Predominant strawberry mixed with a bit of citrus and watermelon. Refreshing with bright acidity. Good.

    –Mack & Schule Mosketto Rosato, Italy, $12. Made from partially fermented moscato and brachetto grapes, at just 5% alcohol, this “delicate sweet pink” as it says on the label, offers a pleasantly sweet sipper, with a mix of apricot, floral and citrus on the palate – and naturally occurring bubbles. Good.

    –Francois Lurton Fumees Blanches 2022 Sauvignon Blanc, France, $15. Lemon, lime and touch of tropical fruit as well as herbs on the nose and palate. Bright acidity, but balanced. Good.

    –DonnaFugata 2022 Lighea, Sicilia DOC, Italy, $25. Made from the zibibbo grape, this dry white is aromatic with candied citrus aromas, and with a bit of peach, almond and salinity on the palate. Good.

    –Chehalem 2023 Pinot Noir Rose, Willamette Valley, Ore., $28. Strawberry aromas with a touch of flowers. Grapefruit and lemon on the tart palate. Good.

    –Mouton Cadet 2023 Rose X Mathilde, Bordeaux, France, $18. Raspberry aromas. Grapefruit, floral and mineral on the palate. Good.

    –Art of Earth 2022 Riesling, Qualitatswein Rheinhessen, Germany, $12. Made with organic grapes, this has a bit of kerosene on the nose, and citrus and apple on the bright palate. OK.

    –Fitvine 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon, Ca., $15. A zero-sugar vine sold in aluminum bottles. Raspberry and vanilla in this light style, somewhat tart cab. OK.

    –FitVine 2023 Sauvignon Blanc, Ca., $15. Dry, grassy, citrusy, crisp. A bit thin on the finish. OK.
