Buy 3 Calamos Mutual Funds for Potential Returns

    November 6, 2026

Calamos Investments was founded by John P. Calamos Sr. in the 1970s as a global investment management company. The company is based in Naperville, IL, and manages $53 billion in assets, with $25 billion of those in liquid alternative funds.

Calamos offers a range of mutual funds, including equity, fixed-income, multi-asset class, and alternative investment strategies. With 87 investment professionals and 390 employees, Calamos has continued to grow organically while also completing several acquisitions in recent years. Calamos also maintains several U.S. offices, including in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Milwaukee, Portland and the Miami area.

We have picked three Calamos mutual funds — Calamos Market Neutral Income CVSIX, Calamos Timpani Small Cap Growth CTASX and Calamos Hedged Equity CAHEX — which investors should buy now for the long term. These funds have a Zacks Mutual Fund Rank #1 (Strong Buy) or 2 (Buy), with positive three-year and five-year annualized returns, minimum initial investments within $5000 and expense ratios considerably lower than the category average. So, these funds have provided comparatively stronger performance and carry a lower fee.

Calamos Market Neutral Income fund seeks maximum current income while maintaining a low correlation to fluctuations of the overall U.S. market. CVSIX invests in equities and in convertible securities (including synthetic convertibles) of U.S. companies irrespective of market capitalization, and may use short selling and total return swaps to enhance income and hedge market risk.

John P. Calamos has been the lead manager of CVSIX since Sept. 4, 1990. Most of the fund’s holdings were in companies such as NVIDIA Corp (4.6%), Apple Inc. (10.9%) and Microsoft Corp (3.2%) as of July 31, 2026.

CVSIX’s 3-year and 5-year annualized returns are 6.7% and 4.7%, respectively. Its net expense ratio is 1.24%. CVSIX has a Zacks Mutual Fund Rank #1.

Calamos Timpani Small Cap Growth fund invests its net assets in small-cap stocks that advisors consider to have strong growth potential, primarily through common stocks and ADRs.

Brandon M. Nelson has been the lead manager of CTASX since March 23, 2011. Most of the fund’s holdings were in companies like Dave Inc. (5.2%), Lumentum Holdings Inc. (4%) and Mama’s Creations, Inc. (3.1%) as of July 31, 2026.

CTASX’s 3-year and 5-year annualized returns are 32.9% and 7.8%, respectively. Its net expense ratio is 1.29%. CTASX has a Zacks Mutual Fund Rank #1.

Calamos Hedged Equity fund seeks total return with lower volatility than equity markets. CAHEX invests its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in equity securities and securities with stock- or equity market-like characteristics.

Jason Hill has been the lead manager of CAHEX since Dec. 31, 2014. Most of the fund’s holdings were in companies like NVIDIA Corp (7.7%), Apple Inc. (7.1%) and Microsoft Corp (5.4%) as of July 31, 2026.

CAHEX’s 3-year and 5-year annualized returns are 13.5% and 8.1%, respectively. Its net expense ratio is 1.12%. CAHEX has a Zacks Mutual Fund Rank #1.
