Lyndsay and Jamie Taylor opened Sips on the Square and eventually relocated and expanded to the current location of Sips Beer Garden and Food Court. The Taylors recently sold Sips to longtime employee Hailey Finger. Pictured are Hailey Finger (left) and Lyndsay Taylor.

When Lyndsay and Jamie Taylor decided to open Sips on the Square, the desire was fueled by a deep passion for learning about business, entrepreneurship and a desire to make a meaningful impact.

She quickly fell in love with the world of business and the endless possibilities it offers.

“As a female entrepreneur, I took immense pride in breaking new ground and creating something from the ground up,” Taylor said. “Opening Sips, at age 26, was not just about building a successful business; it was about setting an example and inspiring others to pursue their dreams. I wanted to show that, with dedication and vision, anyone can create something special and make a difference.”

Taylor’s journey was and continues to be driven by the hope that her story would encourage and empower other females in the industry and beyond, to embark on their own entrepreneurial adventures.

“I opened Sips as a wine bar with the smallest of menu options,” Taylor said. “We grew a desire to create a broader offering, which led to learning more about the food industry, pizza specifically, as well as the craft beer industry. At that point, we were able to expand into a more full-service restaurant and craft beer bar. This learning process also led to getting draft beer ordinance passed after I approached the city council about that being an option in our city.”

On July 31, 2024, Lyndsay officially turned the Sip’s over to Hailey Finger, interestingly, a 26-year-old who started working at Sips waiting tables and working the kitchen and eventually opening a food truck.

“After more than a decade of pouring our hearts and souls into Sips, it is with deep and sincere happiness that we announce we are passing the torch to someone so special to us,” Taylor said. “Our dear friend and mentee, Hailey, will be taking over the reins, carrying forward the legacy we’ve built together.

“When Hailey came on board at Sips almost eight years ago, we knew she was filled with passion, dedication, and vision and we couldn’t wait to see where that leads her in life. Over the years, we’ve watched her grow personally and professionally, and we couldn’t be more excited to see this dream come to fruition as the new steward of Sips. As we reflect on our journey, we’re filled with an extreme amount of gratitude for the memories, the friendships, the staff who became family, and the community that have made Sips truly so special.”
