Sips and Sounds adds to big weekend

    October 11, 2024

From 2pm, Gillies, Moore and MacKay Sts will be home to the action, including a range of local musicians who will be busking.

Buskers include Echo & Strum, Chris Green, John Curren, Terry McSweeny, Chalk Circle Artists, poet and comedian Raphael and an Irish band.

Evie Scoble will perform in the rotunda throughout the day, and Darcy Ramage will be making the rounds through town. Guests are encouraged to bring cash to support the performers.

Hospitality venues will get involved for the day, with food offerings from The Tavern, Shamrock, Criterion, Rochester Hotel, Jarmo’s Pizza Truck, Bowser Bean, Rochester Bakery, Rochy Fish Shop and Rochy Pizza.

Takeaway options will also be available so attendees can roam the streets enjoying the music while they eat.

Diners can also eat in, with live music from John Irish, Jessy Jackson, Darcy Ramage, Keggin and Jessica Lorraine at the Criterion, Shamrock and The Tavern.

Keeping the kids entertained will be circus performers, balloon twisting, arts and crafts, a bubble workshop, face-painting and roving hairdressers around the Rotunda Park and the Rotary Park.

A nature art workshop will be hosted by Tina West from 3pm to 4.30pm at Momentum Jiu-Jitsu and there will be a Paint & Sip session with Herb at the Criterion Hotel from 2pm.

The event has been co-ordinated by Visit Rochester, a Rochester Business Network initiative, with support from Rochester Community House and Echuca Regional Health.

It coincides with the Rochester Show N Shine, transforming the 4Rs from 9am to 3pm. Attendees are encouraged to make their way from one event to the next, and are also able to drop in at Corop’s brand-new glass gallery, stationed inside a repurposed tram.

Sips and Sounds Festival will be across Gillies, Moore and Mackay Sts from 2pm until late on Saturday, October 19.

To book a spot in the nature art workshop, contact Tina on 0456 846 121. For the Paint & Sip session, drop into the Criterion Hotel or call 5484 3145.
