ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The James S. McDonnell Foundation is collaborating with other private funders to keep the Guaranteed Basic Income Program going.
The program sends checks to low-income residents. The program is currently in legal limbo, which means no public funds are being used.
For the remainder of the year, the private funding will continue sending $500 a month to 540 households throughout the City of St. Louis. Foundation officials said they are actively seeking more private donations to keep the program funded through the middle of next year.
