Justice makes multiple stops in Morgantown to announce millions in funding

    October 28, 2024

MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) – Governor Jim Justice made multiple stops in Morgantown Monday to announce millions of dollars in funding for projects in the area.

First, Justice stopped by the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, where he signed House Bill 206 alongside West Virginia University President Gordon Gee, Dr. Ali Rezai, Dr. Clay Marsh, state lawmakers and other local officials.

The bill provides $2 million in funding to the institute to expand research and treatment efforts for food addiction, PTSD and Alzheimer’s.

During the ceremonial signing, the university presented Justice with an honorary jersey with the number 36 because he’s the 36th governor of West Virginia.

Justice also stopped by Mylan Park, where he announced another $1 million in funding.

These funds are distributed through the Department of Environmental Protection‘s Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization (AMLER) Program for Phase II of Mylan Park’s KOA RV Resort and Campground project, which includes the construction of 26 modular Lancaster Log Cabins and the paving of interior campground roads.

Crews broke ground for the new campground in April. The RV Park is an $11 million state-of-the-art campground that will feature 169 RV sites, cabins, a clubhouse, and other camping amenities.

There is no word at this time when it is expected to be complete.
