    On a pensé un moment titrer notre article « Le jour le plus long ». Car s’il faut donner aux coureurs qui ont ferraillé sous la pluie pendant près de cinq heures tout le respect qu’ils méritent, il est vrai que le scénario avec une attaque au kilomètre zéro, un peloton qui contrôle pendant quatre heures et finalement un sprint, n’est pas le plus exaltant pour les suiveurs.

    Il ne s’agit donc pas de déprécier le courage des valeureux attaquants du jour dans le Romorantinais et le Monestois – le Français Axel Salvadori (Villefranche Beaujolais), l’Allemand Miguel Heidemann (sélection nationale) ainsi que les Néerlandais Meindert Weulink (Parkhotel Valkenburg) et Axel Van der Tuuk (Metec – Solarwatt) – ni celle du Polonais Marceli Boguslawski (ATT Investments), qui a doublé la mise après le succès à Naveil la veille avec un sprint surpuissant qui a laissé sur le carreau la concurrence.

    On retiendra que les fuyards ont pris jusqu’à 4’ 30” d’avance. Un écart contrôlé par les équipes de sprinteurs et celle du leader du général. Un quatuor devenu d’ailleurs trio quand le Français a sauté dans le premier grimpeur à Mennetou-sur-Cher, laissant filer les trois costauds, qui ont su résister jusqu’à 10 km de l’arrivée, après 200 bornes de fugue !

    Et c’est donc Marceli Boguslawski qui a empoché la mise, après une dernière tentative de Tim Marsman dans les derniers hectomètres, finalement 2e de l’étape et revenu, au jeu des bonifs’, à 40 secondes du leader Larsen au général avant la dernière étape dans les rues de Blois. « Je suis trop content de cette nouvelle victoire, a raconté le Polonais. Encore une fois, mes coéquipiers ont été formidables et ont fait un excellent travail du début jusqu’au dernier virage à 350 m de la ligne. Et j’ai fini le travail comme vendredi. Bon, on m’a dit que c’était sur un circuit fou à Blois, donc on verra pour la passe de trois (rires). »

    En attendant, le Danois Niklas Larsen a conservé son maillot orange, profitant du travail des équipes de sprinteurs et de ses coéquipiers dans le final pour le placer aux avant-postes. Il aura encore besoin d’eux pour empêcher ses poursuivants de le détrôner.
