Man runs for 2 hours with carer to raise funds for hospice

    November 2, 2025

Thomas Hall, 33, ran from his home in Tottington to Greenmount and back on Thursday, October 23, without stopping, despite living with disabilities that make it difficult to breathe during exercise.

He said he pushed himself to keep going, saying: “I just kept thinking, ‘No, I just need to go for it.’”

Thomas – a former Tottington High School pupil who now works at Age UK in Failsworth – was accompanied on the route by his carer, Prince Joseph, who walked behind him in support.

The pair have become familiar faces in the area, after previously completing charity walks together – including a trek from Tottington to Peel Tower to raise funds for Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary earlier this year.

That challenge, which saw Thomas raise hundreds of pounds for the animal charity, inspired him to take on a new test of endurance, this time running to support people receiving end-of-life care.

Thomas said his motivation came from seeing how cancer affected his own family.

By going door to door and collecting donations from residents, Thomas raised £750 for Bury Hospice.

Thomas is already planning his next challenge – a sponsored skydive to raise further funds for the hospice.
