Premium Bonds winner with just £650 saved scoops £100,000 prize in August 2026 draw

    August 2, 2026

The winner is located in Tyne And Wear and they purchased their winning bond just four months ago in March 2026

One lucky Premium Bond winner with only £650 saved has scooped £100,000 in the August 2026 draw.

The winner is located in Tyne And Wear and they purchased their winning bond just four months ago in March 2026. The £100,000 is the second largest prize you can get through Premium Bonds, with the biggest being £1million.

Each month, two £1million prizes are handed out. For the August 2026 draw, the first £1million winner is from Kent and they hold £21,000 in Premium Bonds. The maximum you can hold is £50,000. Their winning bond number was 664BF890888 and it was purchased in February 2026.

The second £1million winner is from Hampshire and Isle of Wight and they have £49,850 invested in Premium Bonds. Their winning bond number 491KF169443 was bought in March 2022.

Meanwhile, one person with just £20 saved in Premium Bonds also scooped £50,000 – with a bond that was purchased in July 1981. Someone else with £30 in Premium Bonds also won £50,000. Their bond was bought in December 1979.

Premium Bonds are a savings product by NS&I, which is backed by the Treasury, but instead of getting interest back on your money, you are entered into a monthly prize draw.

The smallest monthly prize is £25, and the biggest is £1million, however, you are not guaranteed to win a prize every month – this means you can go periods of time without winning anything.

There are also far more smaller prizes given out each month, versus the bigger sums. There are usually thousands of £25 prizes given out and just two £1million prizes.

The maximum you can have saved in Premium Bonds is £50,000 and for every £1 invested, you get a unique bond number. New Premium Bond purchases need to be held for one full calendar month before being entered into the monthly prize draw.

The odds of a bond winning are currently 22,000 to 1 for every £1 bond. The prize fund rate – the nearest thing Premium Bonds has to an interest rate is 3.8%.

If you win a prize, you should be emailed or sent a text message from NS&I. You can then choose to have the money paid into your bank account, or reinvested into Premium Bonds.

You can also use the NS&I online prize checker tool, or the Premium Bonds prize checker app, to see if you’ve won. More than 22 million people currently have Premium Bonds.
