EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — In today’s community conversations, El Paso County Commissioner Iliana Holguin joined the KFOX14 morning news to talk about the county’s bonds that are on the election ballot.
The county’s capital improvement plan is on the ballot.
El Paso County is asking for $323.8 million in the ballot.
Holguin explained if approved what the money would be used for.
The proposition is made up of five different propositions.
- Parks which is $95 million.
- Office of the Medical Examiner: $26 million
- Three annexes: $63 million
- Funding for the coliseum: $105 million
- Animal Shelter: $32 million
“These bonds fines are going to have to be repaid by the voters. Voters are going to have to pay this back,” said Holguin.
“This would raise the tax rate by about three cents which translates to about $60 a year in additional property taxes for a home valued at $200,000.
Election Day is Nov. 5.
