    Encore 40 circuits pour Bonds

    (RDS) – Barry Bonds des Giants de San Francisco a frappé son 698e circuit en carrière pour atteindre les 40 longues balles pour une cinquième saison de suite dans une partie contre les Rockies du Colorado.

    Les Rockies ont donné 20 buts sur balles intentionnels cette saison, soit le total le plus élevé de toutes les équipes dans le baseball. Ils ont toutefois décidé de l’affronter en troisième manche. BB a alors frappé un circuit de deux points contre le lanceur Jamey Wright.

    C’est la huitième fois dans ses 18 ans de carrière que Bonds frappe au moins 40 circuits en une campagne, ce qui égale une marque dans la Ligue nationale qui appartenait à Hank Aaron. C’est Babe Ruth qui est le meneur avec 11 saisons dans les ligues majeures.

    Bonds n’est qu’à deux circuits de faire partie d’un groupe sélect des 700 circuits où se trouvent Aaron et Ruth. Il manque 16 circuits à Bonds pour rejoindre Ruth (714). Quant à Aaron, il est le roi des circuits avec 755.

    Ce sont finalement les Rockies qui l’ont emporté au compte de 8-7. Mark Sweeney a frappé un grand chelem dans la victoire.
