    What are Premium Bonds?

Premium Bonds are a Government savings product offered by NS&I that pay out prizes but no interest.

Every pound that you pay in equals one Premium Bond and each bond has an equal chance of winning a prize: 23,000 to 1.

The underlying rate is currently 3.3 per cent.

The numbers, or more accurately strings of numbers and letters of varying lengths, are selected by a machine known as ERNIE – Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment.

You can buy Premium Bonds online at NS&I with a minimum of £25. You can hold a maximum £50,000 of Premium Bonds.

It’s possible to cash in all or part of your Premium Bonds whenever you like online.

You can also buy and cash in Premium Bonds over the phone by contacting NS&I for free in the UK on 08085 007 007.
