FLORENCE, S.C. (WPDE) — The Florence School District 3 Board of Trustees approved $20 million for capital improvement projects throughout the district on Monday.
The planned capital improvement projects will focus on academics, arts, and academics for district-wide improvements.

The funding will come from an equipment acquisition agreement with a lender such as a national or regional bank. The first funded project is $5.8 million for HVAC repairs, innovative building automation systems, lighting enhancements, and crucial electrical infrastructure replacements at Lake City Early Childhood Center.
The initial phase of the project will deal with advancing weatherization and performing comprehensive roof repairs of the school. Completion of this initial phase is expected by the end of the year.
The board will hold a work session to create a prioritized list of projects for the remaining funds.
