The Morningstar rating for funds, often called the star rating, is the data-driven rating that measures how well a fund has performed compared to similar funds. It is a purely quantitative, backward-looking measure of a fund’s past performance, measured from one to five stars. Morningstar Medalist Rating
The Morningstar Medalist Rating is a forward-looking system that aims to predict funds’ performance versus a relevant benchmark index or peer group. It takes the form of Gold, Silver, Bronze, Neutral, and Negative, with higher ratings denoting our conviction in a fund’s ability to outperform and lower ratings indicating a lack of conviction. Morningstar Sustainability Rating
Morningstar’s Sustainability Rating helps users to better gauge the risk a fund could face from environmental, social, and governance factors. This rating evaluates the overall ESG risk in a fund relative to its peer group, so investors can manage the ESG implications of their investments.
