Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has presented MP as a hub of green, cost-competitive, and traceable products at a meeting at the headquarters of Inditex in Galicia during his trip to Spain.

Inditex (Industria de Diseno Textil of Spain) is one of the top fashion retail companies in the world. Yadav held talks with the senior officials of Inditex for investments and business partnerships.

The MP government is committed to having a global partnership in the textile sector, Yadav said. The presence of established brands like Inditex will boost the economy of the state, create job opportunities, and improve green products, he said.

According to Yadav, MP is one of the top raw cotton-producing states in the country. It is producing around 18 lakh bales (three lakh metric tonnes) of cotton annually, he said.

There are more than 15 textile clusters in the state, including Indore, Mandsaur, Burhanpur, Ujjain, and Neemuch. Yadav said.

The government gives preference to the environment and social and governance causes, he said, adding that water recycling, waste management, and decent work standards are in vogue in the state.

The state’s views match with the responsible sourcing policy of Inditex, he said. Yadav invited Inditex to take part as a chain anchor in the PM Mitra Park.

He suggested setting up an organic cotton tracing platform and vendor development programme with the help of ESG-certified MSMEs.
