CPP Investments earns 7.5% return for its first quarter, net assets rise to $863.6B

    August 14, 2026

TORONTO — CPP Investments reported a net return of 7.5 per cent during the first quarter of its 2027 fiscal year.

The results helped its net assets grow to $863.6 billion as of June 30, up from $793.3 billion at the end of the previous quarter.

It says the increase in assets included $60.2 billion in net income along with $10.1 billion in net transfers from the Canada Pension Plan.

CPP Investments chief executive John Graham says the fund is well positioned to benefit from the performance of public equity markets, which helped CPP Investments deliver its strongest quarterly performance in more than a decade.

CPP Investments says the fund generated a 10-year annualized net return of 9.4 per cent.

Along with its first-quarter results, CPP Investments also announced more carbon footprint disclosures at the portfolio level, which will be provided annually.

Those disclosures include a snapshot at the carbon intensity of its holdings and a look at how companies are preparing for energy transition-related risks and opportunities.

“We consider material risks, including climate-related risks and opportunities, to support risk-adjusted returns over decades,” Graham said in a news release.

“We know that progress towards a lower-carbon future will not be linear, and we are committed to continued transparency as we invest across sectors and work with companies to reduce risk and preserve value.”
