Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland recently visited New York to meet with Tribal leaders and community members, emphasizing the Interior Department’s efforts to support tribal lands. Her visit stressed the significant investments made possible by the Investing in America agenda in promoting Tribal sovereignty, self-determination, and prosperity.
During her visit, Secretary Haaland engaged with leaders from the Cayuga Nation, Oneida Indian Nation, Seneca Nation of Indians, Shinnecock Nation, Tonawanda Band of Seneca, and Tuscarora Nation. She reiterated the Department’s dedication to Indian Country through the President’s Investing in America agenda, which funds affordable high-speed internet, safer infrastructure, modern sanitation systems, clean water, reliable electricity, and economic development. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law alone allocates over $13 billion directly to Tribal communities nationwide.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For unity and collaboration among Tribal leaders, community members, and government officials.
- For discernment for the Interior secretary and department officials as they engage Tribal nations.
