    The Movie

Hero’s Island” is amoving masterpiece depicting the unwavering tenacity of the human spirit, following the lives of boys and girls born in Okinawa during World War II as they face fate and struggle to survive during the turbulent two decades from 1952 under US military rule.

The three remaining friends grow up and go their separate ways, all while continuing to search for On. Gusuku becomes a detective and chooses to cooperate with the US Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands to maintain peace and order on the island and find On. Meanwhile, Rei seeks to fight back against the US military by force. Yamako becomes a teacher but is involved in a serious accident, and the former friends drift further apart.
