    Large Cap Mutual Funds: Large cap mutual fund is the category in which 80 per cent of investment is centered in large capitalisation stocks. Large cap companies are well-established firms ranked from 1 to 100 by market capitalization, whose market value holds above Rs 20,000 crore or more in India. These top 100 companies are ranked on average market capitalization during the six months ended June 30, 2026.

    Nifty 100 index, which tracks top 100 companies based on market capitalization in India, offered 2 per cent returns to investors in the past 1 year. As of August 06, 2026, the index (Nifty 100) stood at 25,763. It recovered substantially after falling 22,875 in March 2026 followed the Iran-US war.

    Nifty 50 delivered a negative 0.10 per cent return in the last one year, Sensex dropped 2.64 per cent during the period. Meanwhile, small cap and mid cap funds have delivered not only positive but in double digits.

    Investors looking for steady wealth creation, capital preservation, and exposure to blue-chip companies often prefer large-cap funds as part of their investment portfolio.

    Investors should also look at long-term performance, consistency across market cycles, portfolio quality, expense ratio, fund manager’s track record, and whether the scheme matches their financial goals and risk tolerance.

    Which Are Top 5 Large cap Mutual Funds In Terms Of Returns In Past 1 Years?

    According to the latest performance data as per AMFI (Association of Mutual Funds in India), Quant Large Cap Fund emerged as the best-performing scheme in the category in 1-year, generating a one-year return of 8.49% for investors. The fund outperformed its peers despite a volatile market environment, making it the top choice among large-cap funds during the period. This data is till July 31, 2026.

    Bank of India Large Cap Fund ranked second with a 7.49% one-year return, followed closely by Invesco India Largecap Fund, which offered 7.33%. Taurus Large Cap Fund secured the fourth position after delivering 6.43%, while Bajaj Finserv Large Cap Fund completed the top five with a 5.98% return.
