In August there were 179 sectoral/thematic funds which were increased to 183 funds in September. The total number of equity mutual funds was recorded at 471 in September against 464 in August.

Equity mutual funds have added 43.74 lakh folios on a month on month basis taking the total number of folios to 14.72 crore in September from 14.28 crore in August.
Midcap funds added 8.09 lakh folios on a month-on-month basis to 1.75 crore folio in September from 1.67 crore folios in August. The total folios in the mid cap category contribute 12% to the total equity mutual fund folios.
The smallcap funds added 7.64 lakh folios on a monthly basis making the total folios in the category to 2.23 crore in September. Around 3.50 lakh folios were added to the flexi cap category taking the total number of folios to 1.60 crore as of September 30. No new flexi cap fund was introduced during the month.Around 3.25 lakh new folios were added to the multi-cap category with the total number of folios recorded at 79.88 lakh as of September 2024. One new multi-cap scheme – PGIM India Multi Cap Fund – was launched in September.The large & mid cap funds added 2.90 lakh folios on a month-on-month basis with total folios at 1.06 crore as on September 30. Only one new scheme – ITI Large & Mid Cap Fund – was introduced in September.

Around 2.57 lakh folios were added in the value/contra fund category. In September, the total number of folios was recorded at 75.22 lakh with 23 funds in the category.
The large cap category added 2.49 lakh folios on a monthly basis taking the total folios to 1.48 crore in September from 1.46 crore in August. No new fund was launched in this category.
ELSS funds and dividend yield funds added 76,090 and 75,625 folios respectively on a monthly basis. Focused funds added 16,073 folios on a monthly basis.
