Tata Mutual Fund lifts curbs on investment in gold ETFs

    August 21, 2026

Tata Mutual Fund has lifted the curbs on large lumpsum investment in its Gold ETF and Gold ETF Fund of Funds.

On June 5, Tata MF restricted subscription transactions of ₹25 crore and above in Tata Gold ETF directly with Tata Mutual Fund with effect from June 8.

Additionally, lumpsum purchases and switch-ins into the Tata Gold ETF FoF were capped at ₹10 lakh per PAN per calendar month on June 8. The measures were taken after Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed consumers to go slow on gold purchases. The sharp surge in gold imports had put pressure on the rupee and the current account deficit amid the West Asia war.

In view of the normalisation of market conditions, it has now decided to resume subscription transactions of ₹25 crore and above by large investors in Tata Gold ETF directly with Tata Mutual Fund, said the fund house in a statement on Friday.

Additionally, applications for lumpsum purchases and switch-ins to the Tata Gold ETF FOF will now be accepted without any investment limit restrictions, he added.

Meanwhile, HDFC MF and Invesco MF have resumed accepting investment in the Gold ETF schemes.

HDFC Mutual Fund resumed unrestricted lumpsum subscriptions and switch-ins in its HDFC Gold ETF Fund of Fund from August 14.

Similarly, Invesco MF will resume accepting lumpsum subscriptions in its gold ETF and gold ETF fund of fund (FoF) from August 24. The restriction had been imposed through a June 12 notice-cum-addendum, said the fund house.
