US-based Franklin Templeton has launched a global research fund, expanding European investor access to the investment capabilities of Putnam Investments. The fund is a sub-fund of the Ireland-domiciled Franklin Templeton Global Funds plc (FTGF) range.
The launch marks the next phase of Franklin Templeton’s strategy to broaden international client access to Putnam Investments’ capabilities, following the introduction of its flagship US equity strategies last year.
Matthew Harrison, Head of EMEA and Americas (ex-US), commented: “Putnam Investments is a strong example of our strategy in action – bringing together specialist investment expertise with Franklin Templeton’s global scale, distribution and reach to deliver more choice for clients.
“Since introducing Putnam to European investors, we have seen strong client demand, with the success of the US Research Fund reflecting the appetite for differentiated, research-led active equity strategies. By expanding the range, we are giving investors greater choice to access Putnam’s capabilities across global equities.”
The new fund builds on the strong demand for the FTGF Putnam US Research Fund, which has raised more than $5bn since it was introduced to international investors in April 2025. Over the past 12 months it has also attracted more flows than any other actively managed US large-cap UCITS mutual fund or ETF. Its underlying Putnam US Research Equity Strategy, established in 1995, has more than $9.6bn in assets under management.
