The Coaching Inn Group has announced plans to invest between £8-10m of capital expenditure into its estate, with funds split between enhancing its existing properties and securing new sites.
To support this expansion drive the RedCat Hospitality-owned operator has named David Phillips as property director, and promoted Malcolm Storey to head of food.
A significant chunk of this cash injection will be earmarked for property upgrades across the group’s existing estate starting in 2027. Renovations are planned at the Royal Oak in Welshpool and two of the nine properties which were transferred from RedCat Hospitality in February, as well as adding 15 new bedrooms to the group’s Feathers outpost in Ledbury.
The Coaching Group’s managing director Adam Charity said: “The plans we are setting out now demonstrate our renewed sense of energy, creativity and ambition. Our investments will be rooted in creating better experiences for our guests, offering a more consistent Coaching Inn Group proficiency while making sure each property retains its own character, heritage and appeal.
“By balancing investment in our existing hotels with our future acquisition plans, we can continue to meet evolving customer expectations while building a stronger, more resilient business for the future.”
The group’s newly-appointed property director David Phillips added: “I am very excited to be leading the charge on the CAPEX strategy for The Coaching Inn Group.
“We’re ambitious, but also methodical with the decision making, and the priority is finding the right opportunities rather than the most opportunities. If the right assets appear, we’d like to continue to grow the estate, but only if we’re confident that they will have positive, long-term effects on the business.”
To support these expansion ambitions the Coaching Inn Group has also launched a new loyalty app called Journey by Coaching Inn Group, which aims to drive repeat spend and improve customer experience.
Since its acquisition by RedCat Hospitality in 2021 the Coaching Inn Group has more than doubled its footprint from 18 to 43 locations.
