Things to do in Vancouver: Christmas Market tix are $25 off

    October 17, 2024

The German-style market has over 90 huts selling savoury and sweet eats and tasty sips.

Vancouver’s popular German-inspired Christmas Market is offering savings on early ticket sales.

The Vancouver Christmas Market at Jack Poole Plaza is the largest in the city, returning annually with a selection of artisan vendors, hearty eats and sweet sips.

This year’s holiday event boasts over 90 huts, daily live performances, a carousel, magical light displays, a new walk-through Christmas tree, and a new lover’s lane.

The Sky Curtain of Lights will also dazzle guests “with over 22,000 individual bulbs, lights up the Tannenbaum Terrace.”

German vendor Bratwurst Haus serves “delicious, grilled sausages in freshly baked rolls, complemented perfectly with tangy German mustard,” while another, Das Champignon Haus, serves a popular German street food staple: mushrooms sautéed with creamy garlic sauce.

You can also feast on mini pancakes with sweet toppings, croissant waffles, strudels, chimney cakes, roasted nuts, and churros. There are pierogies, grilled cheese sandwiches, hearty soups, and lángos (Hungarian fried flatbread with toppings like sour cream, bacon and cheese).

The market has several beverages to sip, including traditional German “sweet and spiced” apple drinks, hot chocolate, and a lineup of caffeinated drinks including lattes, cappuccinos and espressos.

Visitors can also sip on adult beverages, including beers and the popular German holiday drink, Feuerzangenbowle. To make it, a rum-soaked sugarloaf is set on fire and melts into a pot of hot, spiced Glühwein (mulled wine). The toasty concoction creates an “aromatic beverage with a touch of caramel sweetness.”

This year’s vendors offer everything from handmade, all-natural soaps in over 20 varieties to handcrafted soy and beeswax candles, a needle felting store to glass German ornaments, Japanese porcelain to handcrafted wooden items, and much more.

Tickets are reduced up to $25 for families who purchase tickets now. Tickets may be purchased for a one-day visit or as a season pass.
