WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM REVIVALRY- TWO SIPS

    August 19, 2024

Did you ever dream of being on stage at festivals and concerts when you were a teenager? Well for indie rock band, Revivalry, it’s a reality. After playing at Kendall Calling just a few weeks ago, granting them the title of youngest band to play the main stage, the musicians released their track ‘Two Sips’ on August 16th.

Revivalry are relatively new to the music scene with not a lot of tracks under their belt, but it feels like Two Sips could be one of many hit compositions from this three piece group. The song is packed with laddish allure, lively instrumentation and clever rhymes that look at the realities of being young.

Comparing themselves to acts such as The Reytons and The Arctic Monkeys, Revivalry have sold themselves as the typical indie rock sound. Whilst they share similarities with said bands, and do follow the general formula of the genre, Two Sips is evidence of them being more than just another group in an over-saturated market.

    How so?

Well Revivalry hail from Cleethorpes, so it perhaps is no surprise that this tune has a Northern charm to it. It explores, with explicit honesty, the trials of being a teen dabbling in the world of booze, relationships and the realisation that they don’t always go well together. Admitting that their style of music revolves heavily around guitar, Two Sips begins with an energetic riff. One that will at the very least, get heads bobbing and feet tapping.

Layered over the guitar are the equally vibrant drums and bass, as well as the punchy vocals, which are laced thick with singer, Josh’s accent. The lyrics detail various party antics and are likely to remind many people of stories from their own youth, even more so because of the genuine conviction behind each word.

With a slew of concerts and festivals already booked up in their calendar to promote themselves, announcements of more singles and a debut album seem imminent in the next little while. As their collection of songs grows, so will their popularity, and their youthful, slightly angst-y but completely honest energy is sure to gain them a large, loyal fan base.
