Bank of America down? Thousands of customers report mobile and online banking outages, some claim funds “wiped out” amid widespread technical glitch

    November 7, 2025

Bank of America experienced a widespread system outage on Friday(November 7), leaving thousands of customers unable to access their accounts. According to Downdetector, more than 3,000 users reported issues as of Friday evening.

Some customers shared seeing the following message when attempting to log in: “Temporarily unable to display some accounts and/or latest balances. We’re working to resolve this issue quickly.” Most reported problems were linked to the bank’s mobile banking platform, with major cities including Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Chicago among the affected areas. Issues reportedly began around 7:17 pm EST, according to Downdetector reports.

Bank of America reassured customers that those with existing accounts could still reach the bank via relay services by dialing 711 and keeping their account number ready. For general inquiries about deposit accounts or accessible banking services, the bank advised calling 800-432-1000.

The bank also suggested a few troubleshooting steps for login issues. Customers were encouraged to check if their password had expired or failed to meet security requirements, which include a minimum of eight characters, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number.

Bank of America also recommended verifying that the correct user ID is entered, manually retyping it if necessary, and ensuring stored passwords or credentials are up to date.

However, experts noted that these fixes may not resolve the issue, as the outage appears to be originating from the bank’s systems. On social media, users expressed frustration with the outage, with some claiming their funds appeared “wiped out,” though there was no evidence of lost funds. Downdetector’s real-time tracking indicated that 88 percent of complaints were related to mobile banking, while 10 percent involved online login issues.Bank of America has not yet provided a timeline for restoring full service, and customers are advised to monitor official communications for updates.
