    Les ETF (Exchange Traded Funds, ou trackers) ont conquis les investisseurs particuliers comme professionnels. Faciles d’accès, peu coûteux, immédiatement exposés à une tendance ou à une géographie, «ils semblent être devenus la réponse unique à toutes les questions d’investissement», relève Bertrand Lamielle, directeur général de Portzamparc Gestion (Portzamparc, BNP Paribas Group), sollicité par Capital.

    Mieux encore : ils permettent d’embarquer rapidement sur un secteur ou une zone géographique en train de redémarrer – la défense, l’Europe… – «sans avoir à trancher tout de suite entre Thales, Rheinmetall en Allemagne ou Leonardo en Italie, entre le DAX ou l’Eurostoxx. Ils laissent du temps pour affiner son stock picking (la sélection d’actions en Bourse au cas par cas, valeur par valeur, NDLR) tout en profitant de l’élan», fait valoir l’expert, qui ajoute que les ETF offrent également «une porte d’entrée simple à l’investissement international» via le plan d’épargne en actions (PEA). Nasdaq, Dow Jones, Russell 2000… : autant d’indices actions américains désormais accessibles via des trackers éligibles, permettant de diversifier son portefeuille tout en conservant un cadre fiscal avantageux.

    Mais derrière cette accessibilité se cache une réalité plus contrastée. D’abord, les ETF ne financent pas l’économie réelle. «Contrairement à la gestion active, ils ne participent pas aux introductions en Bourse (IPO), maillon pourtant essentiel du financement des entreprises. A une époque (…)
