Money Matters: 401k’s and investments in a high market

    July 14, 2025

Today on GMN, financial expert Barry Bigelow joins Sierra Naess to discuss 401k’s and investments in a high market.

As markets hit record highs, many people are asking, “Is it too late to get in?” Financial expert Barry Bigelow joined Good Morning Northland to calm those nerves and offer some clear steps forward.

“All-time highs are part of a growing, healthy market,” Barry reminded viewers. “You don’t want to just abandon all hope because things are at an all-time high. Things can still get better.”

    So what should investors do?

Barry recommends a simple but powerful strategy called, “dollar cost averaging”.He said, “Instead of putting in $50,000 all at once, spread it out, do $500 a month instead.” “Over time, you actually beat the price of the market that way.”

Already invested? Now’s the time to rebalance your portfolio. As Barry explained, “Sell high and buy low, even if it feels counterintuitive.”

And don’t forget the “boring” money. With money market accounts returning 4–5%, Barry says they can be a safe and smart piece of your strategy.

Overall, Barry tells us to stay steady, smart, and keep your long-term goals in focus. If you have questions for Barry, send an email or message us on Facebook!
