₹10,000 monthly SIP in this mutual fund has grown to ₹81 lakh in 15 years

    October 6, 2026

A ₹10,000 monthly SIP in Franklin India Small Cap Fund over the past 15 years would have grown to around ₹81 lakh, according to data released by Franklin Templeton, as the 20-year-old scheme crossed ₹14,000 crore in assets under management (AUM).

The fund house said the scheme’s AUM has crossed the ₹14,000 crore mark. According to Franklin Templeton’s calculations, a one-time investment of ₹10,000 made at the fund’s inception would have grown to around ₹89.9 lakh.

Franklin Templeton said the fund has outperformed its benchmark, the Nifty Smallcap 250 Index, over 5 years, 15 years and since inception. Over 3 years, however, the scheme’s return was 12.82%, compared with 16.15% for the benchmark, while over 5 years the respective returns were 16.49% and 16.55%.

Over 10 years, the fund delivered 14.25%, against 14.84% for the Nifty Smallcap 250 Index. Over 15 years, the fund’s return stood at 19.03%, compared with 15.75% for the benchmark. Since inception, the scheme delivered 15.02%, versus 14.67% for the index, according to the fund house.

Akhil Kalluri, Portfolio Manager, Franklin India Small Cap Fund, said the fund would continue to focus on identifying fundamentally strong businesses with scalable growth potential.

Small-cap funds, however, can see sharper price swings and higher volatility than funds investing in larger companies. Past returns, including SIP returns, do not indicate future performance, and investors need to consider their risk appetite and investment horizon before investing.

The scheme has an exit load of 1% for units redeemed within one year of investment. The minimum initial investment is ₹5,000, while additional investments can be made with a minimum of ₹1,000, according to Franklin Templeton.Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks, and investors should read scheme-related documents carefully before investing.
