Tracking India’s MF surge: Moneycontrol Mutual Fund Summit 2026 5th edition, coming soon

    June 25, 2026

Over the past ten years, India’s mutual fund sector has consistently reached significant milestones, with little fanfare to show for it. At the close of FY14, the industry managed assets worth ₹8.6 lakh crore. Today, that figure stands near ₹84 lakh crore, reflecting a structural shift in the way Indian households save, invest and participate in capital markets.

What was once considered a fringe investment opportunity has grown into one of the country’s most important vehicles for long-term wealth development, owing to millions of individuals who embraced disciplined, market-linked investing.

It was in this context that the Moneycontrol Mutual Fund Summit was created, to serve as a platform where industry leaders, policymakers and market veterans could deliberate on the trends, challenges and opportunities that are shaping the evolution of the mutual fund industry.

The first edition of the summit in Mumbai in 2023 coincided with the phenomenal retail adoption of mutual funds and the rise of systematic investing in household finance.

The summit, which brought together some of the most powerful voices in the sector, such as AMFI Chairman A. Balasubramanian, HDFC AMC MD and CEO Navneet Munot, SBI Mutual Fund MD and CEO Shamsher Singh and SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, examined the factors driving the industry’s explosive growth and the opportunities that are emerging from India’s changing investment landscape. The discussions placed the industry’s expansion in the larger context of long-term wealth creation, investor empowerment and financial inclusion.

As the summit evolved, so did its conversations. The Ahmedabad chapter in 2024 centred on the expanding role of mutual funds in extending the reach beyond traditional financial hubs, while the Mumbai edition in 2025 was themed “The Trillion Dollar Dream”, echoing the industry’s own declared target of crossing $1 trillion in assets under management by 2030.

The discussions included leading policymakers, asset managers and market experts with senior representatives from SEBI, AMFI and India’s largest fund houses, covering technology-led distribution, product innovation, investor education and the frameworks needed to sustain trust at scale. Across these editions and locations, the summit became a platform where the sector’s future priorities were articulated, debated and refined, helping define the next chapter of India’s mutual fund growth story.

Today, SIP assets account for ₹17.12 lakh crore, nearly a fifth of the industry’s total assets, supported by 9.64 crore active accounts contributing more than ₹30,000 crore every month for three consecutive months. What was once considered a gradual behavioural shift now appears firmly embedded within India’s investment culture.

The Moneycontrol Mutual Fund Summit is back this year with the theme “From Innovation to Impact”, reflecting a definitive shift in industry priorities. As access broadens, participation deepens, and regulations strengthen, the focus has moved beyond expansion to delivering tangible investor outcomes.

The challenge now is to ensure that innovation across products, technology, advice, and distribution translates into real value. With sessions covering SEBI’s vision for India’s investment decade, leadership views on converting innovation into impact, and market insights from leading CIOs at a critical global and domestic juncture, the summit will also examine dynamic asset allocation, emerging opportunities, and the frameworks needed to sustain investor confidence in a more sophisticated market. A clear emphasis on improving outcomes for millions who rely on mutual funds for their financial future.

Join the conversations defining the future of investment in India at the Moneycontrol Mutual Fund Summit 2026-Mumbai chapter, presented by HDFC Mutual Fund, co-presented by JioBlackRock Mutual Fund and powered by Axis Mutual Fund on June 30.
