Rain discusses recent multi-million real estate investments and commitment to family privacy | K-pop Movie News

    August 5, 2024

Rain recently addressed the media frenzy surrounding his real estate investments and the challenge of balancing his personal life with public curiosity. During an August 2 interview with SpoTV News, Rain spoke candidly about his recent purchase of a property in Apgujeong Rodeo for 15.9 billion won ($11.7 million), which was acquired under the name of Megabig Entertainment, a company run by his father. This new acquisition follows a 2021 purchase, where Rain and his wife, Kim Tae Hee, made headlines for buying a building in Seocho-dong for 92 billion won ($67.7 million).
When asked about his real estate ventures, Rain expressed gratitude for his father’s role in managing these assets. “I’m grateful to my father who does a lot of things on my behalf”, Rain said according to MMT. “I do look into properties sometimes, but that’s about it. I haven’t been able to look into it much lately because I’ve been busy with my acting work”, he added. He humorously contrasted his real estate holdings with the fictional wealth depicted in his recent drama ‘Red Swan’, stating, “I wish I had 18 trillion Won like the Hwain family”. Rain’s latest project, ‘Red Swan’, portrays a wealthy family with extravagant assets, underscoring the difference between the fictional and real worlds.
Beyond his real estate endeavors, Rain also reflected on the difficulties of maintaining privacy in the public eye. He discussed his personal struggle with how much to reveal about his family, particularly his children. “I want to share my family and keep memories of my cute baby growing up”, Rain said. “But I’ve developed a rule because some people say negative things when you share your personal life, and others ask, ‘Why do you have to hide your family?’ if you don’t. Since I can’t please everyone, I’ve decided not to talk about it at all. Neither my family nor I discuss our private life much. Even when I guest on YouTube shows, I avoid bringing up or answering questions about my family”.
