What better way to enjoy the perfect summer day in San Diego than by heading to the charming Little Italy neighborhood and reveling in live music at the Marine Band San Diego Summer Concert! On Saturday, July 13 at 7 p.m., the full 40-member Marine Band and celebrated local group “Sound Strike” will take over the Piazza della Famiglia delivering lively melodies that the whole family can enjoy.

All evening long the community is invited to move and groove to the beloved anthems and irresistible tunes performed by the popular ensemble. Though all that dancing is bound work up an appetite! To help with that, we have created the ultimate list of restaurants to check out before and after the Marine Band San Diego Summer Concert.

Just a couple of steps from the lively atmosphere is Vincenzo Cucina & Lounge a must-try spot in the neighborhood. Situated on the corner of India St. and the Piazza della Famiglia, the charming eatery features a full bar with a lounge as well as street-side sipping at the Aperol Spritz Bar, perfect for a refreshing drink before, during, and after the concert! Guests can expect to feast on beautifully crafted Italian dishes and a delicious spin on dining. Here, you’ll find San Diego’s only dedicated Cheese Wheel Pasta Bar featuring six irresistible wheel options.

Everyone is talking about the new restaurant in town and rightfully so! Recently launching his newest concept in June, renowned chef and television personality, Sam Zien (better known as Sam the Cooking Guy) is welcoming in a new era of Italian-inspired cuisine at his latest restaurant, BASTA! Located in the heart of the Piazza della Famiglia, BASTA! features a variety of small bites and elevated entrees that cater to every palate as well as a selection of inventive cocktails, designed to ignite your taste buds and foster connections.

Adjacent to the Piazza della Famiglia, the Little Italy Food Hall is home to multiple locally driven food stations, a full-service restaurant, a donut cart, a mobile outdoor chef’s area and two full bars complete with local beers and craft cocktails. From a big ole’ scoop of gelato from Bobboi Natural Gelato to paper-thin Milanese gourmet pizzas from Ambrogio15 and nice cold glass of beer from the Little Italy Food Hall Bar, there’s something for everyone here.

If you’re looking for a bird’s eye view of the Piazza della Famiglia, head to Coco Maya! Guests are immersed in the vibrant sights, smells and taste of the Caribbean, featuring a colorful interior and a menu that offers a contemporary twist on classic American and Latin dishes, enhanced with bold Caribbean flavors. Plus, Coco Maya boasts a diverse mezcal and tequila portfolio, alongside the rum-based tropical cocktails that are as refreshing as delicious.

Hanging out in the Piazza della Famiglia before the concert? Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea at Frost Me Café & Bakery while soaking in the sun. Or grab a delicious bite (and picture) at Morning Glory and watch the event come to life. Frost Me Café & Bakery is a locally owned small batch bakery offering a range of pastries, desserts, and light bites in addition to their range of brews and lattes. For something a bit heartier, Morning Glory is a must-try for their decadent breakfast dishes such as the Morning Glory Ginger Fried Rice, Souffle Pancakes, and French Omelet. They’re the perfect spot to relax and wait for the magic to happen!
