The Percy and Donna Malone Child Safety Center is gearing up to hold their annual Gala like you’ve never seen it before.
The 9th annual Denim and Diamonds is taking its guests to the Kentucky Derby.
Denim and Diamonds: At The Derby will be held at the Malone Show Barn in Arkadelphia on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, with a cocktail hour beginning at 5 p.m. followed by the program at 6 p.m. Three-Seven Catering will be whipping up a delicious Derby-themed dining experience along with delicious desserts by Ludwig’s Bakery.
Unsigned will return to the stage this year for live music.
Nick Stover will return to be the live auctioneer for prizes including getaways and goodies. Finally, you will hear about the work happening at your local Children’s Advocacy Center, as well as a word from a moving speaker.
The staff at the Center are working hard each day to serve hundreds of children in our area who have experienced abuse by placing them on a path to healing and hope. With this year being the 9th annual gala, the center has set a goal of raising $90,000 at this year’s event.
It costs the center approximately $1,000 to provide all its services to just one child. This includes child-friendly forensic interviews, sexual assault nurse examinations, child and family advocacy and court preparation, and mental health therapy. The Center serves over 200 children each year, so raising $90,000 will help cover a great percentage of that number.
In order to achieve this goal, the center is asking local community members to become “Denim and Diamonds Difference Makers” by raising money for the center. Ask your co-workers, customers, friends, and family to make a difference in the lives of local children by donating to the Center by Friday, Oct. 4.
Have your donors visit pdmcsc.org/gala and click on the “Donate Here” button. They will be able to enter your or your business’s name before submitting their donation. You can also collect cash and checks. Contact the center at 870-403-6879 to arrange a drop off or pick up time. Finally, the easiest way is by creating a Facebook fundraiser post benefitting the Percy and Donna Malone Child Safety Center.
Sheriff Jason Watson has raised the most funds as a Denim and Diamonds Difference Maker the last two years, but the center hopes someone will step up to the challenge to raise more than him.
Tickets to this event are available at pdmcsc.org/gala. Together as a community, we can make such an impact on local children experiencing abuse.
