WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The New Hanover Community Endowment has received an additional $25 million from the sale of the New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC).
NHW Healthcare, Inc., the wind-down entity for NHRMC, comes from assets attained to cover remaining liabilities before the sales that have now been settled. Now that these surplus funds have been released, New Hanover County has now directed nearly $1.36 billion to benefit the community.
“The sale of NHRMC was a significant decision made by the Board of Commissioners to benefit our residents today and for generations to come,” said New Hanover County Board of Commissioners Chair Bill Rivenbark. “It is incredible to see that almost $1.4 billion has been dedicated to making New Hanover County the best possible place to live, work, and play.”
